Genomics Applications
Genomics Bioinformatics applications are typically data driven and have long running times because it is necessary to integrate many different biological databases and tools. For this reason the development of a GRID workflow to distribute the computation load on a remote computer using the GRID platform will allow the possibility to perform complex workflow of analysis on huge amount of data form different organisms Genome.
To reach this goal it is necessary to change the software most used for analysis in Bioinformatics to be able to run on the GRID platform. For a number of Bioinformatics applications will be developed software for the input management, the job submission procedure and the output retrieving. Due to the huge amount of data that have to be elaborated the data management will play a key role for a successful implementation of these applications.
When a large number of Bioinformatics resources are needed, it will be possible to coordinate them in a workflow on the GRID platform. By using the EGEE platform it will be possible to manage large scale Bioinformatics application.
