BioinfoGRID project: Bioinformatics Grid Application for life science

ICEAGE The International Collaboration to Extend and Advance Grid Education

EMBRACE Network of Excellence
A European Model for Bioinformatics Research and Community Education

SwissBioGrid
The Swiss Bio Grid is an initiative of national scope that will support large-scale computational applications in bioinformatics, biosimulation, chemoinformatics and bio-medical sciences by utilizing distributed high-performance computing, high speed networks, massive data collections and archives, as well as the necessary software tools and data integration capabilities.

International Grid Trust Federation
The promise of global computational Grids, requires policies and procedures that reliably identify Grid subscribers and resources. We have established three regional Policy Management Authorities to manage their individual Grid Authentication services. The goal of the IGTF is to insure harmonization and synchronization of these PMAs policies to allow for a global trust relationship to be established.

HEALTHGRID

Global Grid Forum - Life Sciences Grid
The Life Sciences Grid (LSG) Research Group explores issues related to the integration of Information Technology with the Life Sciences on a grid infrastructure.

Biogrid
Bio-GRID will develop interfaces to enable chemists and biologists to be able to submit work to HPC facilities. This task will focus on development of various interfaces to biomolecular applications and databases. The main task of Bio-GRID is to integrate selected applications with UNICORE infrastructure and provide easy tools for non experts in high performance computing.

Crossgrid
The CrossGrid project is oriented towards compute- and data-intensive applications that are characterized by the interaction with a person in a processing loop. Such applications require a response from the Grid to an action by a human agent in different time scales.

Gemss
GEMSS demonstrates how Grid technologies can be used to transform healthcare and enable Europe to lead that transformation. The GEMSS test-bed renders accessible a multitude of medical computing and resource services in a clinical environment. It provides access to new tools for improved diagnosis, operative planning and surgical procedures in order to create a new way for improved health care.

Infogenmed
A virtual laboratory for accessing and integrating genetic and medical information for health applications.

Birn
Drawing upon the expertise and technologies available at numerous institutions, the Biomedical Informatics Research Network (BIRN) is building an infrastructure of networked high-performance computers, data integration standards, and other emerging technologies, to pave the way for medical researchers to transform the treatment of disease.

MEDIGRID
The aim of the MEDIGRID project is to explore the use of the GRID technologies for tackling the processing of huge medical image databases available in the hospitals today.

GENOGRID

STEP: A Strategy for the EuroPhysiome
STEP: a Strategy for The EuroPhysiome is a coordination action partially supported by the European Commission. It aims to provide a roadmap to the development of the Virtual Physiological Human.

PRIVIREAL is a European Commission Framework 5 funded project examining the implementation of the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC in relation to medical research and the role of ethics committees.

AneurIST - Integrated Biomedical Informatics for the Management of Cerebral Aneurysms. This is an European Commission Framework 6 funded project.

ImmunoGrid - The European Virtual Human Immune System Project. ImmunoGrid is an EU funded project which started on the 1st February 2006 with the aim of simulating the human immune system by Grid technologies.

SYMBIOmatics - Synergies in Medical Informatics and Bioinformatics. The SYMBIOmatics an European Commission Framework 6 funded project by the ICT for Health unit in the Directorate General Information Society.

LHDL - Living Human Digital Library: Interactive digital library services to access collections of complex biomedical data on the musculo-skeletal apparatus. This is an European Commission Framework 6 funded project.
