DEISA Symposium


DEISA Symposium: Towards Petascale Computing in Europe, 21-22 May 2007

The focus of this year’s annual DEISA Symposium is on the initiatives and strategies being deployed to enhance the outreach of high performance computing (HPC) in Europe.

The DEISA Symposium is traditionally held once a year during the Spring. In previous years, the Symposium focused on the scientific and technological issues related to the operation of the DEISA infrastructure.


Registration
For logistic reasons, participants are requested to register, but there will be no registration fee.
The registration is now open.


Timeframe of the meeting
The meeting will start on Monday, May 21 at 13:30 h and will end on Tuesday, May 22 at 12:30 h.

A buffet lunch will be served on Monday before the Symposium program will start, and on Tuesday after the Symposium program will end. On Monday evening there will be a cocktail reception.


Preliminary program

Monday 21, afternoon:

  • HPC strategies un the USA, Japan, and Europe
  • Existing HPC related e-Infrastructures: DEISA, TeraGrid
  • New initiatives in Europe

Tuesday 22, morning:

  • Technology issues in petascale computing
  • Scientific cases for petascale computing in Europe: Astrophysics, Climate Modelling, Plasma Physics, Europhysiome, Nanosciences.
