Pharmaceutical and Biotech companies have been adopting compute and data Grids for the last 7 or 8 years. The Slovak Academy of Sciences provides the backdrop to discuss how the pharmaceutical industry is a natural adopter of Grid technologies. Benefits of adopting these new technologies include bringing products to the market faster with better quality and efficiency, gaining both market edge and Return of Investment (ROI). Both the economic benefits driving adoption and the technical challenges will be explored to demonstrate how the advantages often counter-balance these obstacles.

The aim of this Industry day is to provide an overview of EGEE’s current achievements and future developments in the domain of Bio-informatics and Bio-Medicine.
